Adding instead of taking away.....

So I have decided that its time to get healthy again. I say that all the time, but I think im going to go about it a different way this round.

Every time I decide that I want to lose weight, I start removing things from my life. I remove all the good food I like. I remove going out to eat with friends. I even try to remove smoking cigarettes. In the end, all these things lead to my failure to stick to a plan. I cant keep taking things that I love away and thinking its going to be ok.  Its like taking a security blanket from a child. I have to do this slowly so that it lasts.

This time im going to try add things to my life. Im sure it sounds kinda silly, but at this point, anything is worth a shot. I started today by adding a piece of toast with peanut butter to my breakfast. (since I dont normally eat anything in the morning) Next is to add two bottles of water to my day. These are just two of the small steps I am going to take to start my journey to a better me.

Change is coming...  I can feel it.

I will miss you Megan....

My father always told me "The only unconditional love you will ever truly know, will be the love of your child, and the love of your dog" On this day, I know that is so true.

I remember going with JJ and Kaitlyn to go pick Megan out from a huge litter of spunky yellow lab puppies. When we walked out on the back porch, all the pups ran and hid under a hot tub in the yard. Only one little fuzzball remained on the porch. There she was, laying across a bowl of dog food about the same size as her whole body. When we saw her face, we knew she was the perfect pup for dad. From the moment I saw dad pick that chunky little puppy up, I knew that love at first sight did exist. While Megan left us today, that love will always stay.

Today my father said good bye to his Megan.

The bitter sweet end of my series

I finished the last book in a five book series today. The set it called the Fever series by Karin Marie Moning. The story was amazing! I was so obsessed with this series that I honestly didnt want it to end. It has taken me two days to force myself to read the last two chapters. I felt like if I didnt read it, then it would always be there for me.

The characters in the book were so intense and full of secrets that after finishing the book I felt like the characters were some of my best friends. Barrons is strong, mysterious, and gorgeous. (the man is every woman's dream)  Then you have Mac. She is young and full of pain and hurt when she starts her story. When reading how she got to Dublin my heart ached for her. She was so strong and didn't even know it. It is really rare for me to have that kind of connection to a story, but Karin sucked me into this series quick.

Its hard to describe the story line because of the many surprises and turns the book takes. (with out giving away the whole story)  It starts out with Mackayla Lane, a young woman who's world is torn apart at the news of her only sister being murdered while attending school abroad in Dublin . Mac travels across the world alone to track down her sisters murderer, when she is sucked into a world full of magic and mayhem that she couldn't have imagined in her wildest dreams. Along her journey to avenge her sister, Mac meets the amazing guys and the worst guys. She learns of a world is full of demons and monsters, as well as a covenant of women who are gifted to fight those demons to the death. Mac quickly finds that every one has dark secrets, including herself.

Warning:  This series is considered a romance and has some very graphic adult scenes in it. The book also contains very gory scenes that may not be for every one.

A surprise this morning.

As usual, I woke up this morning to the sound of my alarm going off on my bedside table. As usual, I hit the snooze button once and rolled back over to my pillow to catch a few more minutes of what seemed like a good dream. As usual, my alarm went off again. (That alarm is ruthless. Some day I just wish it would not go off. But then there would be the whole not getting to work problem. You just cant win.) As I roll over to hit the snooze button again, I hear a not so usual sound coming from the floor next to the bed. I leaned over to find the cutest surprise I could think of. There on the ground, curled up tight to fit her whole body on a pillow, was my little princess. I couldn't help but smile. What a cute way to wake up! She surprised me this morning and doesn't even know she did. I am so blessed!
